Sister Inmate partnered with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Education Based Incarceration Bureau and HealthRIGHT 360 to facilitate the first-ever jail sound bath held in February of 2018, and was offered to the staff and volunteers at the Century Regional Detention Facility.

Meditation, relaxation, and sound baths are not only beneficial to those incarcerated, but to all who work and spend time in high-stress environments.

A relaxed staff paired with a calm population can mean that there’s less tension, less altercation, and more room to work on self-help and development.

The class was led with deep breathing exercises, light stretches, and a medley of sounds from various instruments. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and since we have hosted one more sound bath for the women incarcerated, with more to come for the staff and volunteers!
